The physical examination items and standards have been announced in the registration brochure and websites of the Ministry of Examination and the Bureau. As the examination items requires medical expertise, you can ask doctors in public hospitals about the standards for determining physical examination items.
To be eligible under the current qualifications in the examination, male candidates are required to have completed their military service, approved for exemption from military service, or currently in service within the legal military service period. You can inquire the eligibility of related qualifications at the organizer of the examination Department of Special Examinations of the Ministry of Examination or the Human Resources Office of the Bureau.
The examination and training do not distinguish between groups or genders and all personnel must receive one year of identical comprehensive training at the Bureau's Cadet Training Office. All personnel qualified in the training shall be dispatched to field units of the Bureau (including mountain areas, offshore islands, and other remote areas) to perform counter-espionage, anti-corruption, prevention of significant economic offenses, money laundering offenses, and drug enforcement. They must have good physique and perseverance to pass the rigorous training and serve in field investigation work.
The Cadet Training Office is appointed by the Civil Service Protection and Training Commission and provides one-year (level 3 examination) or six-month (level 4 examination) professional training programs for new investigative agents. Personnel that qualified in the examination is required to accept training at the Cadet Training Office of the Bureau in January of the following year.
The goal of the training is to cultivate investigative agents of the nation that are ethical and wise, uphold the rule of law, and capable in both office and field work. The courses are divided into four categories:
  1. Fundamental courses: Cultivate the basic concepts, ethics, service attitude, and administrative procedures and skills required for first-time public servants.
  2. Professional courses: Trainees are required to study the laws and regulations related to the operations and judicial investigations of the Bureau and gain familiarity with all sorts of skills for criminal investigations.
  3. Physical education: We implement physical training that include swimming, running, and mountain climbing.
  4. Supplementary courses: Arrange team-building activities, appreciation of arts and culture, and field trips. The education methods focus on inspirational education and experience sharing. Specific measures include explanation of principles, case studies and reports, hands-on exercises, internships, and other education methods implemented in stages. They are supported with group discussions, case studies, and sharing of actual experiences to encourage students to learn from doing. We seek to use lively and actual methods to cultivate investigative agents of the nation with a spirit for teamwork.
Cadets receive approximately NTD 40,000 in allowances during the training period and a monthly salary of approximately NTD 70,000 after becoming an official investigative agent at the end of the training period.
