Government Information Application

Summary:

The Investigation Bureau provides the "Government Information Application" service to establish a government information publication system, facilitate the sharing and fair use of government information by the people, protect the people's right to know, increase the people's understanding, trust, and supervision of public affairs, and promote democratic participation in accordance with "The Freedom of Government Information Law", "Payment Standards for Government Information Provided by the Ministry of Justice and Its Subsidiary Agencies", and "Operating Guidelines for the Acceptance of Applications for the Provision of Government Information by the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau".

Government information refers to information in any record produced or obtained by government institutions within their scope of duties stored in documents, images, photographs, disks, tapes, optical discs, microfilms, integrated circuits, and other media that is readable, viewable, audible, or understandable through technologies or assistive methods.

Eligibility of the applicant:

  1. Citizens of the Republic of China with residence registered in the Republic of China and legal persons or associations established such citizens. The same applies to citizens living overseas who have a passport of the Republic of China.
  2. Foreign nationals may also apply for government information only if their home country does not restrict citizen of the Republic of China from applying for information from their government.

Application method:

The applicant is required to fill out the application form for applications for viewing, copying, photocopying, or photography (hereinafter referred to as viewing) government information.

Required information:

  1. The applicant is required to provide a photocopy of its national identity card. Where the applicant is a legal person or association of the R.O.C., in addition to providing the photocopy of the registration certificate issued by the competent authority, it shall also be required to submit the photocopy of its representative or person in charge.
  2. Where the applicant appoints an agent for the application, it shall submit the photocopy of the national identity card or passport of the applicant and the agent.
