Successful Taiwan-Thailand Law Enforcement Cooperation! The Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau (MJIB), Criminal Investigation Bureau, National Immigration Agency, and Thailand's law enforcement agencies worked together to arrest and escort criminal fugitive Kuo Che-Min from Bangkok, Thailand to Taiwan today afternoon (August 10).

Kuo Che-Min was the person in charge of Nexio Technology Limited, involved in cross-border currency exchange business of renminbi (RMB), Hong Kong dollar (HKD), New Taiwan dollar (TWD), and United States dollar (USD) since 2018. It performed underground exchange transactions of more than 200 million TWD in total, becoming a suspect for violation of the Banking Act. The MJIB Taipei City Field Division proceeded in accordance with the law and escorted Kuo to the Taiwan New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office. However, Kuo absconded abroad during the investigation period on October 26, 2022. The Taiwan New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office issued a wanted notice for Kuo on November 11 of the same year and the respective prosecutor concluded the investigation and indicted the suspect on February 22, 2023.

After receiving the MJIB's reported information, Thailand's Immigration Bureau found that Kuo had entered Bangkok on a plane from Tokyo, Japan in early July, holding a Cambodian passport with a Thailand Elite visa. After confirming Kuo's whereabouts, Thailand's Immigration Bureau swiftly proceeded to arrest him in Bangkok on July 27 on the basis of law enforcement cooperation. This case received a lot of attention from the media and society in Taiwan and Thailand. The MJIB legal secretary in Thailand, the police affairs secretary of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, National Police Administration in Thailand, and the immigration secretary of the National Immigration Agency in Thailand joined forces to fight crime. Through close cooperation with Thailand's Immigration Bureau, the MJIB legal secretary and police affairs secretary of the Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested and escorted back Kuo, arriving to Taoyuan International Airport the afternoon of August 10 on a China Airlines flight. The MJIB Taipei City Field Division received and arrested Kuo in accordance with the law, who was then sent to the Taiwan New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office for prosecution. This achievement exemplifies the MJIB's unwavering determination to root out wrongdoing even when criminals abscond abroad.
