2015 Major Cases

1. Illegal trafficking of 5.83 kg of heroin by Jiang et al.

A drug-trafficking group head by Jiang suspected of smuggling narcotics from Malaysia for sale in Taiwan was identified by the New Taipei City Field Office. On January 24, 2015 the investigative team seized 2.2 kg of heroin in Wanhua District, Taipei City and arrested on the scene 2 individuals namely Jiang and Zhu. Officers escorted Zhu to "Chang X Hotel" where Jiang was staying and found another 3.63 kg of heroin. In the process the officers also arrested 5 Malaysians who were involved in the transportation of the said drugs. All suspects were transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation and prosecution.

2. Illegal trafficking of 667.4 kg of ketamine by Wu

In response to reports made by the Keelung Customs of the Customs Administration, MOF, the Keelung Station, Maritime Affairs Field Division on February 12, 2015 seized 667.4 kg of ketamine on the premises of "Lian X Container Yard" in Keelung. The drugs had been smuggled by sea from Dongguan. Officers subsequently arrested Wu, the cargo's owner, in Qigu District, Tainan City. The case was transferred to the Keelung District Prosecutors Office for investigation and prosecution.

3. Illegal trafficking of 138 kg of methamphetamine by Fang et al.

A drug-smuggling group headed by Fang was identified by the Southern Region Mobile Station. The group was involved in the smuggling of drugs to overseas destinations by concealing them in the stomach cavities of tuna fish. On July 21, 2015 a total of 138 kg of methamphetamine was seized at Kaohsiung Port. Officers subsequently arrested 3 individuals namely Fang, Zhuo and Ke in Fangliao Village, Pingtung County. The case was transferred to the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office for investigation and prosecution.

4. Production of 71.265 kg of methamphetamine and 611.81 kg of solution by Yan

According to the Kaohsiung Field Office, a drug-manufacturing group headed by Yan was suspected of manufacturing methamphetamine in Kaohsiung for sale. At 2000 hours on July 21, 2015 the Field Office and officers from the Third Special Police Corps of the National Police Agency seized 71.265 kg of methamphetamine, 611.81 kg of solution, drug production equipment and chemicals in an iron-sheet house in Alian District, Kaohsiung City. They also arrested 6 individuals namely Yan, Yu, Shen, Su, Wang and Lyu who were in the process of manufacturing drugs. The case was transferred to the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office for investigation and prosecution.

5. Production of 430,000 pills of Erimin by Chen et al.

According to the New Taipei Field Office, a drug-manufacturing group headed by Chen was suspected of manufacturing Erimin in the New Taipei region for sale. At about 1600 hours on September 26, 2015, officers from the Field Office together with police, military police and marine patrol forces seized at a residential property in Xizhi District, New Taipei City, 430,000 pills of Erimin (weighing 87.17 kg), 39.1 kg of semi-finished products, drug-production equipment, and one batch of chemical raw materials. Officers also arrested suspect Chen on the scene. The main suspect Chen was subsequently arrested and brought in for questioning. The case was transferred to the Shilin District Prosecutors Office for investigation and prosecution.

6. Illegal trafficking of 451 kg of ketamine by Wen

The Keelung Station, Maritime Affairs Field Division identified a drug-smuggling group headed by Wen. The group was suspected of smuggling narcotics from Mainland China into Taiwan for sale. On November 3, 2015 officers seized 451 kg of ketamine at Keelung Port. Officers subsequently arrested Wen, the cargo's mastermind in Xinhua District, Tainan City. The case was transferred to the Keelung District Prosecutors Office for investigation and prosecution.

7. Production of 147.7 kg of methamphetamine and 134 kg of solution by Chen et al.

A drug-production group headed by Chen was identified by the Southern Region Mobile Station. The group was suspected of manufacturing methamphetamine in the Kaohsiung region for sale. At about 1400 hours on December 18, 2015 a total of 147.7 kg of methamphetamine and 134 kg of solution along with drug-production equipment and one batch of chemical raw materials were seized in a private residence in Renwu District, Kaohsiung City. Officers arrested 2 individuals namely Chen and Xu who were in process of drug production. The case was transferred to the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office for investigation and prosecution.
