Taiwan’s high-tech industry is the backbone of our economy, with semiconductor companies and related industries serving as the country’s “National Protective Shield.” Consequently, Taiwan’s high-tech talent has become a key target for recruitment by Chinese enterprises. To prevent Chinese firms in Taiwan from illegal poaching and engaging in unauthorized business activities , the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau(MJIB) has established a special task force at the end of 2020 to investigate such cases. To date, more than 100 cases have been investigated. According to MJIB’s findings, Chinese enterprises often disguise their identities through various means, including setting up operations under the guise of Taiwanese, overseas Chinese, or foreign-invested companies, while in reality being backed by Chinese capital, establishing unauthorized business locations in Taiwan without government approval, and using employment agencies to falsely assign employees to Taiwanese firms.
In a major breakthrough in international law enforcement cooperation, the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau (MJIB), in coordination with Philippine authorities, successfully repatriated fugitive former Army officer Li* to Taiwan on March 25, 2025. Hsiung and Huang Lin ? Chen from Canada to Taiwan on May 2. The couple was taken into custody by MJIB officers for further interrogation in the early morning of May 3.

On November 1, the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau (MJIB) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) jointly held the 2023 Taiwan-Western Asia & Africa Forum on Regional Security and Transnational Crime (TWAF), the highest-level international law enforcement and security conference in Taiwan, at The Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei. A total of 250 judges, law enforcement officials, renowned experts, and think tank scholars from 38 countries came to Taiwan to attend the conference and deliver their reports.

The Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau (MJIB) and the Czech Republic’s National Organized Crime Agency (Narodni Centralou proti Organizovanemu Zlo?inu, NCOZ) signed a Declaration of Intent to upgrade judicial cooperation on September 8th, 2023. MJIB’s Director General Chun-Li Wang hosted the signing ceremony and signed the Declaration of Intent with NCOZ Director Ji?i Mazanek on behalf of MJIB.
